American Airlines Commemorates 100 Years with Modern Twists on 1920s Classics in New Inflight Dining

As American Airlines approaches its 100th anniversary in 2026, the airline is taking its celebration to new heights with the introduction of a special inflight dining experience. Beginning February 9, customers will have the chance to preorder exclusive dishes inspired by the culinary flavors of the 1920s. These limited-edition meals will be served in the airline’s premium cabins, offering passengers a unique taste of history while they travel in style.

The new menus will be available in stages throughout the year, with the first dishes debuting in March for international and transcontinental Flagship® First and Flagship® Business passengers. The menu will then expand to domestic First Class starting in April, in time for the airline’s official centennial celebrations. Inspired by the decade when American Airlines first took flight, the dishes bring a modern twist to the classic tastes and culinary trends of the Roaring Twenties.

A Taste of the 1920s in Domestic First Class (April)

When the menu launches in domestic First Class in April, passengers will be treated to a contemporary interpretation of some of the most beloved dishes from the 1920s. A standout offering is the crisp Waldorf salad, a light and refreshing appetizer that has been a staple since its creation in the early 20th century. Travelers on long-haul domestic flights will also enjoy a smooth and indulgent Boursin cream cheese dip, which adds a modern touch to the spread.

For the main course, American Airlines is serving Beef Wellington, an iconic dish that was a hit in 1920s hotel dining rooms. The Wellington is accompanied by roasted vegetables and asparagus, topped with a rich bearnaise sauce. To end the meal on a sweet note, passengers can indulge in a pecan tart, a classic dessert that perfectly complements the sophisticated flavors of the menu.

Elevated Dining in Flagship® First and Business (March-August)

In American Airlines’ Flagship® First and Flagship® Business cabins, customers traveling internationally or transcontinentally will experience an elevated version of the 1920s-inspired dining. The appetizer course includes a prawn cocktail and the crisp Waldorf salad, both nodding to the era’s refinement. To further enhance the experience in April, in celebration of the airline’s centennial month, the appetizer offering will include caviar, blinis, and a deviled egg finished with creme fraiche — adding a truly luxurious touch to the journey.

For the main course, premium passengers can enjoy Beef Wellington once again, with roasted vegetables and bearnaise sauce, as well as Chicken Florentine roulade, served alongside mashed potatoes and a savory mushroom sauce. These dishes reflect the high-end dining found in the top hotels of the 1920s, bringing that same sense of elegance to the modern inflight experience.

These exclusive meals will be available from March through August in both international and transcontinental Flagship® First and Flagship® Business, allowing passengers to indulge in this historic culinary experience as they fly.

A Century of Connection: American Airlines Celebrates 100 Years

The new inflight dining offerings are just one part of American Airlines’ broader centennial celebration. In addition to the specially curated menu, the airline is unveiling a special centennial livery on its aircraft and introducing a new centennial logo across its digital channels. American Airlines has also launched a dedicated centennial website, where customers can explore the rich history of the airline and purchase commemorative merchandise.

Throughout 2026, passengers will see additional centennial-themed touches, including limited-edition amenity kits and pajamas, along with other surprise celebrations during their journeys. As American Airlines marks its 100 years of connecting people, places, and cultures, customers can look forward to more exciting initiatives that celebrate the legacy of this iconic airline.

From inflight dining to commemorative moments, American Airlines’ centennial celebrations offer a unique opportunity for passengers to reflect on the airline’s rich history while enjoying an unparalleled travel experience. Whether savoring the flavors of the past or indulging in the modern comforts of premium travel, passengers are invited to be part of this milestone journey throughout 2026.
