This exciting three-week festival invites visitors to explore, engage, and connect with cultures from around the world through a series of free public events, performances, and hands-on activities.

Lunar New Year Celebrations: A Journey into Tradition
Starting off the festival, South Eveleigh will welcome the Lunar New Year from 16 to 22 February, a time for reflection, fortune, and renewal. This year’s celebrations will offer something truly unique, thanks to the BaZi Augmented Reality Mirror experience. From 16 to 22 February, the mirror will allow participants to explore their BaZi, a traditional Chinese astrology system, blending ancient customs with modern technology. Available daily from 7am to 10pm, this interactive experience promises a fun and insightful start to the year.

Visitors will also experience the iconic Plucking of the Greens ceremony on 18 February, starting at 11:30am, where the lion dance, a symbol of good fortune, will move through the precinct, plucking lettuce placed by local businesses as part of this auspicious ritual.

For those looking to engage more deeply, Mahjong sessions will be held on 19 February from 11:00am-2:00pm and again on 21 February from 10:00am-1:00pm. Beginners are encouraged to try their luck at Mahjong, a game of skill and strategy, with guides and instructors available to offer expert advice on the game’s rich tradition.

Another highlight of the Lunar New Year celebrations will be the High Pole Lion Dance on 21 February at 1:00pm. Performed by the renowned Jin Wu Koon, this thrilling performance features dancers skillfully performing atop high poles—an exciting and awe-inspiring display of culture and strength.

Mardi Gras Magic: A Celebration of Pride and Performance
Following the Lunar New Year festivities, Mardi Gras will light up South Eveleigh from 23 February to 1 March 2026, bringing vibrant energy and dazzling colors. The Drag Me In-teractive experience will feature on-screen drag artists who will entertain and interact with visitors throughout the day, adding cheeky humor and playful fun to the atmosphere from 7am to 10pm. Look out for these lively performers around Innovation Plaza, Village Green, and Interchange Pavilion.

For those who enjoy expressing themselves creatively, the Glow up Nail Bar will offer a chance to shine with rainbow nails and glittery accents on 24 and 26 February, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Located outside CommBank on Locomotive Street, this nail salon is the perfect space to add some sparkle to your day and celebrate self-expression and pride.

Holi Hai: The Festival of Colors
Concluding the festival’s three-week-long journey, the joyous celebration of Holi Hai will take place from 2 to 6 March 2026, bringing the festive spirit of India’s vibrant color-throwing festival to South Eveleigh. From 7am to 10pm daily, visitors can step into the beat of Holi with the Dhol Drum Game Studio Digital Experience. Located at Innovation Plaza, Village Green, and Interchange Pavilion, this interactive drumming game allows participants to test their rhythm while enjoying the beats of Holi.

On 3 March, guests can participate in Henna Artistry, Turban Tying & Performances from 11:00am to 2:00pm and 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
