United States: Korean Air Unveils Stunning New Flagship Lounge at Los Angeles Airport with Unmatched Premium Comfort
Los Angeles – Korean Air has launched its newly revamped flagship lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), marking a significant milestone in its premium customer experience. This $45.1 million upgrade, located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, will officially open to travelers on March 6, after nearly two years of renovations.
The expanded lounge, now spanning 18,030 square feet (1,675 square meters), is 1.27 times larger than the previous facility and stands as Korean Air’s largest directly operated overseas lounge. This renovation, part of Korean Air’s broader premium transformation strategy, incorporates a blend of traditional Korean design with the laid-back atmosphere of Southern California, enhancing the overall travel experience for First Class, Prestige Class, and SkyTeam elite passengers.
Premium Design Inspired by Korean Tradition
Designed by LTW Designworks, a Singapore-based hospitality firm, the lounge incorporates Korean cultural elements like traditional Buncheong ceramics, Dalhangari moon jars, and expressive brushstroke ink paintings. These artistic touches not only reflect the airline’s heritage but also add depth and authenticity to the lounge environment. With warm wood paneling, stone tiling, and floor-to-ceiling windows, the lounge creates a calm, residential-like atmosphere, a stark contrast to the typical airport glare.
Spacious, Segmented Areas for Enhanced Comfort
The two-level lounge has been carefully designed to cater to different passenger needs. The fifth floor houses the Prestige Class lounge and Miler Club, offering around 200 seats, including family-friendly areas, workstations, and an outdoor terrace with views of the terminal. The Miler Club, positioned near the entrance, offers a more private setting for eligible frequent flyers.
On the sixth floor, the First Class Lounge provides a more intimate space with only 25 seats. Guests can enjoy a boutique hotel-inspired atmosphere with luxurious details, including Baccarat crystal glassware and Christofle flatware. A dedicated bar serves Champagne and premium spirits in a cozy environment, enhancing the exclusive experience.
Elevated Dining Experience with On-Site Kitchens
The lounge’s culinary offerings are a major highlight. Korean Air has replaced its previous catered service with full on-site kitchens, allowing for a wider variety of made-to-order dishes. First Class passengers can enjoy an à la carte dining experience featuring Korean specialties like beef gomtang and pork kimchi jjigae, alongside Western options such as cheeseburgers and seared salmon. Prestige Class travelers can enjoy live cooking stations offering dishes like janchi guksu noodles and build-your-own bibimbap stations.
A rotating selection of desserts, charcuterie, and fresh fruit complements the menu, ensuring a high-end, restaurant-style experience.
Exclusive Shower Suites and Premium Amenities
The upgraded lounge also features premium shower suites on both levels. First Class passengers can access Aesop bath products, while Prestige and Miler guests will enjoy Byredo amenities. The lounge has been meticulously designed to cater to the needs of long-haul travelers, with dedicated quiet rooms for privacy, workstations with universal power outlets, and comfortable seating areas for relaxation before departure.
Access Rules and Eligibility
The new lounge is exclusive to eligible passengers starting March 6. First Class passengers have full access to all areas, including the exclusive First Class Lounge. Prestige Class passengers can access the Prestige and Miler sections. SkyTeam Elite Plus members and SkyPass elite members can access designated areas when traveling on eligible flights.
However, passengers with premium economy tickets do not qualify for lounge access unless they meet specific elite status requirements or travel in a higher cabin class.
Strategic Positioning in the SkyTeam Network
This flagship lounge serves as a strategic positioning for Korean Air within the SkyTeam network, strengthening its presence at one of the busiest international airports in the United States. The airline’s commitment to providing an elevated customer experience extends beyond LAX. Another new lounge is scheduled to open later this year at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), further enhancing its premium ground services.
The completion of this new flagship lounge marks a critical phase in Korean Air’s ongoing efforts to enhance its premium brand and differentiate itself in the competitive airline industry.
